Although Portugal has traditionally not been a 'cycling country', in recent years more and more cycle paths and cycle routes have been built by the government, especially in the direct coastal area. If you want to explore the area by bike, you can contact for example Buka Bike (Bim Bim Bike) Caldas da Rainha or a local provider in the place of your visit. In the Serra d'Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park is the first official mountain bike center of Portugal, the Centro de BTT.

7 routes have been set out in the area ranging from 12.5 to 92.5 kilometers and varying in difficulty. The total length of the trail is 265 kilometers. It is possible to link various routes together or to switch to another route in between. The routes go through nature and nice places in the region where you can also enjoy a snack or drink. The mountain bike center is located next to the Pia do Urso ecological park in the Serra d'Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park. There are changing rooms with a shower, but there is also room for cleaning and minor maintenance of the bicycle. There is ample parking all around and there are a number of restaurants and cafes in the ecological park for a snack or drink.

Both the bay of São Martinho do Porto and the lagoon of Óbidos provide good opportunities for sailing, kite surfing, canoeing, etc. You can rent equipment and take lessons. For example, look at Escola de Velada da Lagoa  for the possibilities on the Lagoa de Óbidos, near Foz do Arelho. You can not only sail here, but also canoeing, water skiing, and windsurfing. Sailing and windsurfing lessons are also offered at the São Martinho Nautical Club.
