The Silver Coast has plenty of surfing opportunities, for beginners and professionals and anyone in between.
Peniche
Is well known to most surfers. It is a small peninsula that extends into the ocean. If the waves are too strong on one side of the island, it is often good on the other side. Supertubos are usually available in the autumn, but it is also a good place to surf in the summer months. Baleal is just 5 minutes from Peniche. It is a very attractive surf resort with numerous surf schools, surf shops and cozy beach bars on the water. Peniche/Baleal is therefore very attractive for surfers due to its unique location.
Nazaré
Originally a fishing village with a grandiose atmosphere. Nazaré has become world famous for its huge waves that can reach tens of meters high. It is therefore more terrain for the golf professionals. Recently a wave with a height of 25 was conquered. Praia de Norte is the most famous surf spot in Nazaré. The waves here are very big, strong and wild. Praia da Vila, also called Praia da Nazaré is located right next to the promenade of Nazaré. And in the south of Nazaré is Praia do Sul. Neither is a terrain for novice surfers.
Ericeira
Ericeira is located near Lisbon. Ericeira is considered the surfing capital of Portugal. It is a
surf destination for surfers from all over the world. The kilometre-long coast offers a great
diversity of surf spots. Here you can surf to your heart's content all year round!
Beginners can enjoy the beaches on the south side of Ericeira such as Foz do Lizandro and Sao Juliao. More experienced surfers can head to Ribeira dÍlhas o the other more northern ones
beaches. There is a very wide choice of suitable surf locations!

Surfing is fun for all ages
In Caldas da Rainha you can sign up at Surfoz Surfshop. The children go with the instructor in a van to the beach where at that time the waves are best for beginners (or advanced, depending on the student's wishes). And really, it is a great experience for young and old! Classes are always provided for every level.
Surfoz also rents out equipment! And you can take lessons all year round. Even in the fall or winter!
